The Empanada Queen

Belén brought her
grandmother's kitchen.

Belén de la Cruz moved from Argentina to Atlanta a decade ago and quietly began folding empanadas the way she learned them at home. Word got out. One location became two. Two became five. And somewhere along the way, she became known across the metro as the empanada queen.

Everything is still hand-folded. The recipes still come from home. The flavors are still Argentine. "We work hard not to Americanize them," Belén says — and it shows in every crimped edge.

Details to know

How many empanadas should I order per person?add

Most people grab 2–3 per person as a light lunch, or 4 if it's the whole meal. For a party or office lunch, we recommend a dozen per 4–5 people.

Are any empanadas vegetarian or gluten-free?add

Yes — 8 of our 13 empanadas are vegetarian (spinach, corn, caprese, and several others), and 5 are available gluten-free. Ask at the counter.

Do you cater?add

Yes. We cater office lunches, weddings, birthdays, and everything in between — from a few dozen empanadas to full charcuterie boards with Argentine cheeses and meats. Email empanadas@belendelacruz.com.

Can I freeze empanadas to take home?add

Yes — add 'Frozen' to your pickup order and we'll pack them ready for your freezer. They reheat beautifully in a regular oven.

Do you ship nationwide?add

Not yet, but we're working on it. For now, we ship locally and have five metro-area locations plus a bistro in Decatur Square.

Do you offer cooking classes?add

Yes — Belén hosts empanada folding and pastry classes at some of our locations. Follow us on Instagram for dates.

Is there parking?add

Yes. Free parking is available right out front in the plaza at 11730 Jones Bridge Road.
